Common fillers used to change the topic in the small talk include phrases like "by the way," "speaking of," or "on a different note." These expressions signal a transition and subtly shift the focus to a new subject without abruptness. For example, someone might say, "By the way, have you seen any good movies lately?" or "On a different note, have you tried that new restaurant downtown?"

B: No, I missed it. Who was playing?

    There are some new players who are really making a name for themselves.

A: Yeah, I've been watching some of the highlights on YouTube. It's crazy how talented some of these guys are. 

B: Speaking of YouTube, have you seen any funny sports bloopers lately? Those always crack me up. 

A: Actually, I have. There was this one video I saw where a soccer player accidentally kicked the ball into his own goal. It was hilarious. 

B: Haha, I'll have to look that up. Well, I should probably get going. It was nice talking to you about sports. 

A: Yeah, you too. Have a good one! 

B: You too!

It would be even better if Small Talk included the following and would not mention politics, religion, sex, appearance, etc.

 ♣ Topic/ Sport/Ask a question: Did you catch the game last night?
