[English idioms-2] related to "Holiday"

 Today, I'd like to introduce you to some English idioms related to "Holiday." 

I expressed emotions and excitement related to going on vacation and enjoying enough rest.

HOLIDAY와 VACATION의 차이점

The word holiday is used for important days that are celebrated by a lot of people. Holidays are celebrated usually by your whole country or a whole culture.
The word vacation refers to your personal time off from work or school – usually, an extended time, not just one day – and vacations often involve traveling. 

1. On holiday/vacation - taking time off work or school to travel or relax

 Example: "Finally, I get to escape the daily grind and enjoy a well-deserved break. I'm on holiday in the Bahamas!"

2. Holiday of a lifetime - an unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime experience
 Example: "I'm in awe of this incredible adventure. This holiday of a lifetime is something I'll never forget!"

3. Have a whale of a time - to have a great time, to enjoy oneself
 Example: "I'm having a blast! This vacation is everything I've dreamed of and more. I'm having a whale of a time!"

4. Holiday blues - a feeling of sadness or depression after returning from a holiday
 Example: "Why does reality have to be so harsh? I can't shake off this post-holiday sadness. I'm suffering from the holiday blues."

5. Beach holiday - a vacation spent at a seaside resort
 Example: "The sun, sand, and sea are doing wonders for my soul. This beach holiday in Thailand is just what I needed to relax and unwind."

6. Take a break - to take some time off work or daily routine to rest and recharge
 Example: "I'm exhausted and burned out. It's time to take a break and focus on self-care. I need a holiday!"

7. Road trip - a holiday spent traveling by car, usually with stops along the way
 Example: "The open road, the wind in my hair, and endless possibilities ahead. This road trip across America is a journey of self-discovery!"

8. Staycation - a vacation spent at home or nearby, without traveling to another location
 Example: "I'm embracing the art of doing nothing. This staycation in my cozy home is giving me the chance to relax and unwind without leaving town."

9. Jet-setter - a person who travels frequently and often to exotic locations
 Example: "I'm a jet-setter, constantly on the move, exploring new destinations and cultures. The world is my playground!"

10. Dream holiday - an idealized or perfect vacation
 Example: "Pinch me, because I must be dreaming. This dream holiday in the Maldives is everything I've ever wanted and more!"


11. Cultural immersion - the act of experiencing and learning about another culture while on vacation

 Example: "I'm soaking up every moment of this cultural immersion. From the food to the traditions, this vacation is broadening my horizons!"

12. Holiday romance - a romantic relationship or fling that happens while on vacation
 Example: "I didn't expect to find love on this holiday, but I did. This holiday romance has left me feeling alive and swept off my feet!"

13. Adventure holiday - a vacation that involves physical activity or exploring new and challenging environments
 Example: "I'm embracing my inner daredevil on this adventure holiday. From bungee jumping to white-water rafting, I'm pushing myself to new limits!"

14. Souvenir - a keepsake or memento purchased as a reminder of a holiday or trip
 Example: "This souvenir is more than just a trinket. It's a tangible memory of the wonderful experiences and memories made on this holiday!"

15. Beach bum - a person who spends a lot of time relaxing on the beach while on vacation
Example: "I'm embracing my inner beach bum, lounging on the sand, and soaking up the sun. This holiday is all about rest and relaxation!"
